Having Problems With Your Lawn? A Possible Solution... - Home - Gardening

Lawn Problems: A Solution?

Having a natural grass lawn can be a good thing. The lawn will look nice, green and fresh, but with natural lawns you get natural problems...

During long heated periods during the summer months, a lawn and the soil underneath can get very dried out. A dry lawn will often become a dead lawn if nothing is done about it. So what can you do about it? You could spend every day watering your lawn, or set up sprinklers but both of these methods aren't ideal because they are costly and use a lot of water.

At the opposite end of the scale, when it snows heavily for days on end the grass under the layers of snow and ice will become suffocated and begin to die. Once the snow clears your lawn will be patchy, dead in places and off colour. There isn't much you can do about snow, unless you shovel all the snow away from the grass, but this is very time consuming.

Another natural problem with a lawn is that grass grows. When the grass reaches a certain length you're going to need to think about cutting it. This means spending money on a lawnmower, spending money running your lawnmower and another time consuming task. Or you could hire somebody to mow your lawn, but this is an extra expense.

Natural lawns often attract the growth of moss, especially if a patch of the lawn isn't in direct sunlight and is frequently moist. The moss growing in the lawn can kill off patches of lawn, leaving the grass looking dreadful.

So, what's the solution to these problems? One solution is hours and hours of tedious lawn maintenance and extensive lawn care, or you can install artificial grass. With an artificial lawn you can forget about dryness, cold damage, mowing and moss. The grass doesn't fade and stays green all year round!

Some great advantages of installing an artificial lawn are:

1. Artificial Grass Requires Minimal Maintenance: An artificial lawn requires no moving, watering or seeding. While it may be more expensive than planting a natural lawn it proves itself to be cheaper in the long run as once it is installed you will rarely have to spend any money on it.

Artificial grass gives you same feel of a real lawn and saves you from the trouble of mowing and fertilizing.

2. Artificial Lawns Are Environmentally Friendly:If you want an environmentally friendly garden synthetic turf is a really good option. You save a great deal of water during the dry summer months, and you also don't need to keep treating it with herbicides/weed killers and fertilizers to keep it looking green and healthy, therefore protecting the environment.

3. Artificial Lawns Look Great All Year RoundArtificial grass can be used all year round and lasts for a very long time. It is subjected to less wear and tear than normal grass. It doesn't get muddy in the rain, or dry up in the sun. It looks green and lush throughout the year.
