Choose Clean And Safe With Artificial And Synthetic Grass - Home - Gardening

Artificial and Synthetic grass was first created so that sports that required it could hold events year round. The problem was that due to industrialization, inner city youths were at a disadvantage because they didn't have the same opportunity for sports or other forms of exercise as their rural counterparts. The first synthetic grass was created by the Chemstrand Company out of a fiber formerly used only as a carpet fiber. They used a nylon that was put into the carpeting in schools. The first synthetic turf was Astroturf. It was first installed in 1964 at a Rhode Island school named Moses Brown and was called ChemGrass. There have been enormous developments in the last half decade that has made artificial turf softer, more natural, and more versatile.

As time went on, the concerns of the world changed. Humankind became more interested in the environment and wanted to make sure that any turf they used was kind to the planet as well as being utilitarian. Rather than using the nylon fibers, artificial and synthetic grass is often made of polyethylene fibers which are just as durable as the nylon fibers, but much softer to the touch as well as much more natural in appearance.

The polyethylene is far more biodegradable than the original nylon Astroturf. In addition, there is a new form of turf that is 60% green and biodegradable made from a patented product named BioCelTM, produced by a company named Universal Textile Technologies. Several years ago, some forms of artificial turf was linked to illness in athletes from years spent playing on the fields. However, new regulations in the consumer market have set guidelines that require all synthetic turf be fully safe to humans, animals, and the environment. They are now fully lead free and tested for heavy metal content.

Artificial and Synthetic grass used to be used only for athletic fields. They were used almost exclusively for football and baseball, as soccer, tennis, and other sports were still played entirely on natural grass. Now the industry also offers its products to the average citizen, allowing anyone to possess a lawn that is green the whole year round, environmentally friendly, low-maintenance, and safe for children and pets. It provides a lawn that is always beautiful and requires no maintenance. It saves the time and money spent on lawnmowers and on watering. Animals can't dig through it and it doesn't house the numerous insects that natural grass does. It is a beautiful, life-long alternative to the hassle of maintaining a natural grass lawn. There is no more weeding and no more fertilizing, just a beautiful, natural looking lawn to enjoy.

Artificial and synthetic grasses have become significantly more attractive as well as more useful as they have gotten older. Advancements have made them safer. The new turf is more convenient than trying to maintain huge playing fields of natural grass, making it a cheap solution to fields of any size and for any purpose.
