ForeverLawn Introduces First Artificial Turf for WaterParks, Recreation and Amusement Parks - Entertainment

ForeverLawn Inc., the leader in artificial grass for the recreation and amusement park industry, recently launched SplashGrass artificial turf, designed specifically for use in water play areas and landscaping in waterparks. An attractive alternative to traditional waterpark surfacing materials, such as concrete, SplashGrass provides a safer, softer, more attractive surfacing option.

SplashGrass is manufactured with specific features to address the unique needs of waterparks and water zones in amusement parks. The turf features ForeverLawn's proprietary Flow-Through Backing, which provides instantaneous drainage.

A unique "thatch zone" in SplashGrass artificial turf supports the one-inch tall grass blades, which eliminates the need for infill material. The use of infill is not ideal in water play areas, as it can become displaced from the grass and end up in the pool or on the guests' wet skin and clothing. With its no-infill design, SplashGrass provides a cleaner environment that requires less maintenance and provides superior drainage.

Designed with a short, varied grass blade structure, SplashGrass has a more textured surface than taller landscape grasses to help reduce slipping on the surface and enhance safety. This innovative artificial turf for waterparks also offers a cushioned surface for bare feet. When used with AirGrid, an optional grid structure beneath the grass, SplashGrass can offer a fall-safe zone for added safety, while still providing effective drainage.

ForeverLawn has even added a touch of realism to SplashGrass artificial turf to make it look more natural. The turf features tan blades within its thatch layer to mimic real grass and provide a more realistic appearance for park areas. "Our goal is to provide our customers with a new option and help them find answers to issues they face," said Jim Karmie, director of SplashGrass operations. "Grass is beautiful and people love it, but it is hard, if not impossible, to grow in high water and water play areas.

SplashGrass solves that problem. SplashGrass gives designers and architects the freedom to create beautifully landscaped and completely functional grass areas throughout the park." SplashGrass manufactured artificial turf was well received at this year's World Waterpark Association Show, and International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo. Trade show attendees were intrigued by the unique benefits offered by the product, and eager to incorporate SplashGrass into upcoming park projects.

SplashGrass has already been specified as the product of choice for several upcoming park projects. "We didn't just recycle a different product with a new name," said Donna Kent, director of marketing. "SplashGrass was created specifically for this application." Kent added that some artificial turf companies simply put a new label on an old product and try to hit a new market. ForeverLawn has served the needs of niche markets by specifically developing products, such as Playground Grass, a safety-rated playground surface, K9Grass, the industry leader for pet facilities, and SportsGrass, a line of innovative artificial turf products for the sports field market. These products are each designed to address specific challenges these facilities present.

Green with Envy Over Artificial Turf Grass? - Home - Gardening

You may look at golf courses and marvel at the unbelievably green putting greens. A lush-looking sports field may make you look at your own lawn and wonder how you can achieve that look. Their secret is artificial turf grass.

Artificial turf is a synthetic surfacing made from man-made materials to simulate the look of grass. Once the turf of sports professional athletic teams, artificial turf has expanded into the private sector and is popping up in homes and backyards near you. This has happened for two main reasons: one, the quality of the faux grass has improved greatly since the 1990's, and two, it requires much less care and landscaping. This makes it good for towns and cities that have to conserve water.

Artificial turf grass has a number of other benefits:

Good for arid environments or those with little light. Can be used for indoor sport fields or putting greens.Good for people who can't devote a lot of time to lawn work.Great for roof-top gardens. Can last up to ten years. Some artificial turf can allow fiber optics to be integrated into the turf. This means that lighting or ads could be embedded into the surface. This can allow for custom ads or displays.

There are also some downsides:

As far as backyard sports, the risk for injury is higher with artificial turf. Some turf manufacturers use heavy metals, which can leach into the ground water.Artificial turf is also much hotter when exposed to the sun than natural grass is. Grass is amazingly cooler, so you lose this benefit.

There are now a variety of products and services available now that will allow you to have an ever-green lawn without effort. They are manufactured now to be more environmentally friendly. They reduce the need for water, fertilizers, and pesticides. They are allergen-free, recyclable, and available in a lot of varieties. They eliminate the expenditure of time and money spent on maintenance, and installation is easy.

If you're tired of mowing your lawn on your weekends off or don't have the water to properly maintain your lawn, consider artificial turf grass. It looks natural and may be better for your needs. Make sure, before you buy, that the product you are getting will help, not harm, the environment.

Synthetic Grass For Football - Home - Landscaping

Synthetic grass is the ideal surface for high-performance sports and athletics such as football. When dealing with a sport in which there is high contact involved, performance surfaces are critical. There are several artificial turf products on the market today that are specifically designed for football. Several professional stadiums, high schools, and even local parks have installed artificial turf for football fields. Twenty-one of the thirty-two NFL teams play or practice on synthetic turf fields. Take it from the pros-- artificial turf football fields have many benefits.

Unlike regular grass fields that require several gallons of water due to their vast surface areas, artificial grass fields require absolutely no watering whatsoever. This can save large sums of money over time, especially in drier months in which natural fields require more watering. Artificial turf football fields also remain lush and healthy-looking throughout all seasons. Even through the harshest of weather conditions, an entire synthetic grass football field will remain green. Overall maintenance costs for natural costs greatly outweigh that of artificial grass costs when looking at annual maintenance costs.

Artificial grass for athletics and football is specifically engineered for complete durability to withstand the toughest and roughest of play. Unlike natural grass, which requires heavy maintenance and fails to withstand several years of athletic performance, artificial grass holds up, game after game. Football turf has an infill layer, which is comprised of small rubber and sand particles that softly lay in between synthetic grass blades. The infill helps to act as a cushion for athletes, ensuring that impact and contact is less harmful, thus minimizing possible injury. Polyethylene blades ensure the comparability in texture to natural grass, making sure the surface is not too hard or slippery. Studies have shown that synthetic turf fields have traction that is most comparable to natural grass fields. Thus, the same football cleats can be worn on artificial turf fields without concern for slippage.

Overall performance safety has also been proven greater for artificial turf football fields over regular grass football fields. Studies have shown a significantly less occurrence of muscle tears, fewer concussions, fewer ACL injuries, and fewer ligament tears on artificial grass fields. These studies are accurate all the way from the high school football level, to the professional NFL level. These studies have been taken over several years, exhibiting the consistencies of these findings.

Field maintenance is minimal with artificial turf. Aerating, brushing, and sweeping are most necessary to maintain the quality of the field. Aerating the turf helps to ensure that the infill layer does not get compacted. Brushing keeps infill level, as well as keeping blades upright and separated. Sweeping is necessary to pull out leaves and other debris that could affect the field surface. Rain, sweat, and other liquids are easily drained with the artificial turf drainage system. It manually drains itself, allowing water to permeate through. This prevents spores, fungus, and bacteria from growing within the turf. From easy maintenance and durability, to safety and cost effectiveness, artificial turf football fields are better than natural grass fields.

Artificial Grass and Synthetic Turf Review - Home - Landscaping

By analyzing these ones in relation to those of natural grass can help one make a sound decision about its use.

1.Artificial grass makes it possible to realize a great deal of savings in several ways.

* First, the amount of money invested in laying it out as compared with its durability is reasonable. While making a natural turf is rather inexpensive, its maintenance costs in the end make it more costly than this one.

* Second, the energy efficiency that comes with it cuts back costs significantly. This is notable when one considers the amount of fuel used annually by a simple lawn mower. Time that would be used in carrying out maintenance practices is also saved, making it convenient for the sick or elderly to manage their backyard easily.

* The modern day urban neighborhood has to cut down on water spending and this proves damaging to natural landscapes. Since artificial grass and synthetic turf does not need watering, makes it useful in these areas.

* Replacement costs in high wear and tear regions are avoided with this type of grass. These are areas where children play, dog runs and even around the swimming pool where splashing water can damage a natural lawn. Sporting arenas also enjoy its benefits.

2.Artificial grass and synthetic turf is also an environmentally friendly option.

* First, it needs no pesticides and thus prevents the negative effects of runoff from chemical treated yards.

* The fact that it needs no mowing means a significant reduction of carbon emission into the atmosphere.

* Clippings from cut grass have also been associated with environmental pollution in several ways. Hydrocarbons are released into the atmosphere; the clippings clog drainage pipes and finally end up in rivers and pollute them.

Another benefit associated with this type of grass is the fact that it gives your yard eye appeal all year round. Seasonal changes do not affect this grass and as such, it will never fade to a dull brown.

Nevertheless, artificial grass and synthetic turf has a number of significant disadvantages. First, the production of the grass involves a lot of carbon release into the atmosphere. This cuts down greatly on its environmental friendliness. The process also involves high energy consumption.

Furthermore, even though the grass is highly durable, after a while it needs replacing. The old grass goes to polluting the environment if not well disposed of.

Natural grass though, rids the environment of harmful Carbon Dioxide by absorbing it. It also breaks down pathogens and is thus a suitable option for playground since it has a lower chance of getting them sick. Wastes decompose with time and pose no risk to the environment.

Weighing these factors and assessing the particular needs of an area can help one in choosing correctly between natural grass and artificial grass and synthetic turf.

Why Schools, Colleges and Students Prefer Synthetic Turf - Home - Gardening

When you ask any college or school student what his or her much loved subject, they will end up saying sports and recess. Recreation and sports play a big role in all students' college and school lives, frequently they developing into a lifelong interest. For such enthusiastic students it's up to synthetic turf companies to offer the best grass. When 30 years ago when artificial turf surfaces were introduced, many preferred and suggested that playing on natural grass surfaces were safer as they would cause lesser injuries, especially burses and knee injuries. However now this situation has completely changed in the recent years, thanks to all the artificial grass companies! After following newer manufacturing techniques and introducing efficient installation procedures, things have really changed! Recent studies show that these new kind of artificial grass gives lower injury rates that are a fraction of the injury rates from the earlier studies of artificial turfs. Amazing ly these facts also show that new rates are actually lower than the injury rates experienced on natural turf surfaces. If you compare artificial turf products in today's market versus natural grass, there are several reasons to choose faux lawns.Fake lawns will help you to save lot of money on maintenance, they increase playability and usage; hence these benefits will become an important community and economic assets for college or school districts and municipalities who are investing in them. Similarly firms experienced with these kinds of products are more often able to find funding for field projects through grant partnerships and research with community groups and youths. Except for some local restrictions, synthetic lawns are always available to use twenty four hours a day, seven days per week and all the 365 days per year! Synthetic surfaces don't become muddy during rains. These grasses don't need to lie fallow to give recovery time from its overuse. Studies of jurisd ictions which have converted natural grasses to artificial turfs recommend that the usage of field might be increased by a factor of three times, with no reduction in the quality of field surface. Due to environmental issues like global warming and conservation of natural resources, students and the management prefer to use artificial lawns to save gallons of precious water. And the best part of syn grass is that, they don't require any lawn mover, then it means no more wasting gas for the lawn movers and of course this is very economical for the school or college.

The Evolution Of Artificial Turf - Home - Landscaping

Throughout the decades, artificial turf has evolved into a very realistic and technologically advanced alternative to real grass. However, it is safe to say that synthetic turf products were not always this way. Like most widely adopted modern products, much research and new developments happened in order to lead to the impressive synthetic grass products that are available to consumers today. Though the artificial grass industry has come a long way, it is important to note its developments and history.

Though newer synthetic grass is very much unlike its predecessors, some may not realize the difference. AstroTurf, the pioneering grass-like surface, was created in the 1960's. This early synthetic grass was a short pile grass that was made from PVC-like material. This tended to have a very spiky and plastic-like feel, as well as a shinier and lighter appearance. In comparison to new artificial grass, old AstroTurf from decades ago was not as soft and less similar to natural grass. It did not have many of the functional attributes available in modern synthetic turf, such as infill and a highly effective drainage system.

Artificial turf has since undergone several changes to make it more durable, realistic, and functional for several different uses. The use of infill has changed the way synthetic grass feels when walked on, as well as helping to keep grass blades upright. Infill consists of small rubber granules that are spread in between artificial grass blades. This layer is somewhat compact, but also cushioning. The granules allow liquid and water to permeate without blocking it from draining through completely. Cushion is very important for comfort for households with kids and pets. It is also very crucial for the use of sports turf, which undergoes rough play and performance. Infill helps to prevent serious injuries among athletes.

Another technologically advanced aspect of modern synthetic turf is its polyethylene and polyurethane composition. Unlike the PVC-like materials used in older artificial grass, these materials are much more natural and look and feel much more realistic. Gone are the days in which synthetic grass feels prickly or sharp when walked on. The artificial shiny look, as well as the brighter, less natural tint has also been improved on. Now, modern artificial grass is sometimes undistinguishable from regular grass in appearance. Other features, such as UV protection and added strength allow synthetic turf to withstand heavy sun exposure, some acidic liquids, and even pet urine without being damaged.

The modern drainage system of synthetic grass allows liquids to permeate through the grass in all directions. Thus, it manually drains itself and requires no extra effort when coming into contact with liquid. Modern turf backing is highly perforated, ensuring that drainage is quick and effective. With such an innovative system, artificial turf does not collect water, decreasing bug infestation, bacteria, and spores. It is evident that the evolution of artificial turf has taken strides to be the industry that it is today. Modern synthetic grass is the ultimate in technologically advanced lawn systems that require minimal maintenance, and are equipped with impressive features.

Artificial Turf: How It Is Made? - Home - Landscaping

The performance of artificial turf depends a lot on the quality of raw materials used in it. Almost every material that is used as carpet backing has been used as a backing material of synthetic turfs. These include: jute, plastic, polyester etc. However, a quality artificial grass set always uses polyester tire cords for backing.

Let us now come to the material used for making up the blades of synthetic grass; the most common ones are polypropylene and nylon. However, the manufacturing procedure may differ. The nylon grass blades can be created as slender sheets that get cut into strips or passed through moulds for producing fibres having over or round cross sections. The extruded creations are blades having almost similar feel and look of biological grasses.

The cushioning system of an artificial turf is made using polyester foam or rubber compounds. Sometimes the rubber tires are recycled and used while crafting the rubber base of synthetic grasses.

Now, as we have obtained some idea about the raw materials used for making synthetic turfs; let us get into their manufacturing procedure. The grass parts of these turfs are crafted using the similar tufting techniques as that of carpets. Here are the steps:

First, all the ingredients are put and blended in a hopper. For giving the artificial turf the conventional green colour, suitable dyes are added to the mixture. The mixture also carries some chemicals that can protect the grass from the effects of ultraviolet rays. When all these components are blended thoroughly, the mixture is transferred into a huge steel mixer. The batch gets mixed until achieving the desired thick consistency.

Next, the tick mixture is emptied into an extruder. The extruding will give birth to thin and long strands, which get placed on the carding machine for being spun into loose ropes. The loose ropes are tugged, straightened and finally get woven into yarns. Then, they are laid on a bar with skewers behind the tufting machine and transferred through the tube heading towards tufting needle. The tufting needle penetrates the turfs primary backing and drives the yarns inside the loop. A flat hook clutches and releases the nylon loop whilst the tufting needle tugs back. The backing gets shifted in forward direction and again gets pierced by the needle. The process takes place involving hundreds of needles and every minute witnesses stitching of hundreds of rows. Finally, the nylon yarn gets converted into an artificial turf.

Now, the artificial turf is rolled by a dispenser, which spreads a latex coating onto its base. Simultaneously, a sturdy secondary backing is also developed using latex. Both these are then sealed together. For healing the newly applied latex, the artificial turf is placed under the heat lamps. Then, it is passed through a machine that examines whether there is any uneven surface on the turf. Once, the manufacturing unit is sure that there is no flaw in their creation, the artificial turfs are rolled and packaged for being shipped to the wholesalers.

Artificial Turf Manufacturers - What Should You Expect from the Good Ones? - Business

So, you've decided to take the plunge and go with fake grass? Congratulations! You will love not having any yard maintenance to worry about!

But before you buy enough artificial grass to fill up your yard, park, or sports stadium, you need to make sure that you are dealing with the very best artificial turf manufacturers. If you're not, you could wind up with a yard that doesn't look good and a massive headache.

If you're working with the right manufacturers, you can expect to take advantage of these 3 things:

1. Fake grass that looks and feels just like the real thing

Unfortunately, all artificial grass isn't created equally. Some artificial turf manufacturers have come up with great products that don't look or feel any different from real grass - while others are peddling something that doesn't look quite right.

The best fake grass is the kind that you can't spot. You should be able to have people over to your house, without them realizing that you have a yard full of artificial grass. If you're looking at a product that's going to stick out like a sore thumb, you're dealing with the wrong artificial turf manufacturers.

2. A good price

Good fake grass puts all sorts of new technology to use - but that doesn't mean that when you buy synthetic turf that it should cost you an arm and a leg. Instead, good artificial turf manufacturers will offer competitive prices. Yes, fake grass will cost you more than the real stuff - but you also don't have to pay to water it, pay someone to mow it, or pay to replace it.

And, if you need to buy synthetic turf for a large area - like a city park or a sporting venue - good artificial turf manufacturers will be able to give you wholesale rates.

3. Help installing your fake grass

Good artificial turf manufacturers will look out for you; they won't try to gouge money out of you. If you need help installing your artificial grass, a good manufacturer can put you in touch with professionals who can install your new lawn at a fair price.

Artificial Turf: A Great Way to Save Cash - Family

Copyright (c) 2010 Nadine Davis

When you buy artificial turf, you're going to have to make an initial out-of-pocket investment. Many people see the price tag and decide that they don't want to spend that kind of money. However, the cost of maintaining real grass is quite high. Make sure you take a realistic look at how much your real grass costs you before giving up on artificial grass.

It's already clear to see that there are huge benefits to synthetic or artificial lawns and those key benefits are going to become more and more clear in the near future, in particular noticing water rate rises.

Residential artificial turf is child friendly. The artificial grass surface has non-abrasive soft fibers, which are an ideal playing surface. Bugs, ants and other crawling insects tend to make their home elsewhere as there is no natural food source. It is pet friendly too. The artificial grass for dogs and pets makes it much easier for cleaning up. All you need to do is quickly hose it down after picking up the mess plus unlike a natural lawn, your dogs can't dig it up.

Even the look and feel of artificial turf is just like grass and it stays lush and green every day of the year. They even use artificial turf for putting greens. Forget about trampling mud into the house when it is wet and it will no longer look like a dust bowl in the dry season. The UV stabilised turf will look great no matter what time of the year.

Natural turf takes a lot of looking after, from weekly mowing, to watering, to feeding and fertilizing. All that time tidying the lawn instead of playing with the family, not to mention the on going costs.

What are the overall costs of an artificial lawn? Residential water in Brisbane costs between $1.19 per kilolitre and $1.69 per kilolitre, depending on the volume of water used by the household.Current figures from Brisbane show that a regular family household of 5 people, even meeting the restriction of 140 liters per day per person, will still pay $444 per annum including an access charge of $140 yearly.

The price of water will jump by at least $1.30 per week for people living in Brisbane under major changes announced by the State Government. The increase, which took effect July 1 2008, is to rise further each year for the next 10 years.

Installing LTS Synthetic turf will save you significantly in both the short term and the long term. Within two year of installing your artificial turf at home, you will have recovered your costs and have started to save money when you compare it to the cost if you had installed a natural turf instead.

Over a period of 15 years - the minimum life span of our high performance artificial turf - looking at an annual expense of a conservative $995.00 per year to maintain a natural lawn the expenditure is over $14,925.00 against the initial outlay of $3,300.00

The maintenance costs are very conservative and may be much higher depending on the size of lawn, the hardiness of the type of grass used and who services the lawn. If using a lawn service, the cost may be higher, if using DIY, running costs of the mower and other tools are taken into account, but still conservative.

Taking into account the increasing costs of water and the higher maintenance aspects of natural turf, it makes a whole lot of sense to go with a maintenance free lawn made from artificial turf.

Artificial Turf: A New Generation - Sports

Artificial turf has a bum wrap. Invented in the 1960s, the synthetic grass was one of the most talked-about innovations of its time. Within a decade, however, the talk turned sour. After being installed in baseball fields and arenas, athletes and managers agreed, artifical turf was not a good substitute for the real thing. So, scientists and manufacturers went back to their drawing boards, and even now, are constantly improving upon the original design. Today, artificial turf is widely used not only in stadiums but arenas, indoor golf areas and even restaurants (really?) and is also making an appearance in residential yards.

Stadiums, Arenas and Ice RinksTraditionally used in these venues, the people who frequent these sports-minded areas are largely responsible for the change in artificial turf design. Due to injuries and lost games players, managers and facility operators agreed that the turf needed some vast improvements or it would be, well, turfed.

Today, the fake grass-like flooring is used widely and is a fantastic way to make sports arenas true multipurpose facilities. The turf is much more portable now due to Velcro seams, and can be installed without a professional crew. Facility operators can go from ice rink to soccer field in just hours, maximizing use and revenues.

Indoor putting greens and golf arenas are almost as good as the real thing now that they dont have to be maintained as cautiously if using the artificial green. Made of nylon and polypropylene, this maintenance free option is not so laughable anymore.

Commercial and Residential TurfWhen artificial turf was first introduced as a grass-substitute, the hopes of the manufacturers were that it would replace lawns all around North America and be a water-saving, virtually maintenance free green oasis. No more trimming and mowing for good old dad, those mai-tais on the veranda would be a reality. Unfortunately the stigma and the flaws of artificial turf overshadowed its good qualities and people quickly forgot about their dream of a maintenance-free future.

But now, more and more home and land owners are rediscovering the newly-designed turf and praising its form and function, as well as the money saving end of things as well. Commercial site owners are having the turf installed and seeing returns on the initial cost of the artificial turf. The time and money that can be saved can add up or a year or two.

Home-owners are using the realistic-looking turf for their own lawns, private putting greens and dog yards. The money and time saved are very important factors for peoples busy lifestyles, as is the eternal-gren colour that lawn-fanatics love. The turf is soft enough to run and play on and realistic enough that Spot wont notice the difference. Its also easily cleanable and allows for complete drainage through the backing as well.

While artificial turf cant necessarily be called eco-friendly (its ingredients are debated constantly) it may be so in the not-so-distant future.

So, break out the rum and get the mai-tais flowing a maintenance free lawn awaits. Artifical turf is not only a realistic alternative but a fully functional ground covering and wonderful option for homeowners and facility managers alike.

Artificial Turf Now Used in a Variety of Applications - Home - Gardening

Have you ever wondered how a large football field is properly maintained to keep its grass green all year round? Surely, many of you have thought how extensive its maintenance requirements are especially in ensuring that the grass does not wither during the hot summer months. But there's actually a secret to that.

Many sports arenas today make use of the artificial turf. This is a synthetic grass also known as synthetic turf. It looks and feels like real grass but it isn't the real thing. So just as you thought that extensive maintenance is needed to keep those grass green in football fields and sports stadiums, minor upkeep is what's only required.

The main reason behind the widespread use of artificial turf these days is to keep maintenance costs at a minimum, to avoid the use of irrigation and to keep the grass as alive and green as it can be. With real grass exposed to heavy use such as spacious fields used for sports, there's a big likelihood that they'll get damaged easily and will require some time to grow them back to their original condition.

History

The major credit for this invention goes to a man named David Chaney. He led a team of RTP researchers who were responsible for making the first artificial turf. According to Sports Illustrated, Chaney is a prominent figure who made possible indoor major league baseball.

It was back in 1965 when the first artificial turf became popular. The first brand AstroTurf was then installed in the Astrodome in Houston, Texas. By the 1970s, the use of artificial turf in football and baseball fields in the U.S. and Canada became widespread. Europe followed a decade later in the 1980s. Through the years, the application of this artificial grass has expanded to include now more sports fields especially those meant for field hockey and lawn tennis.

Other than the sports fields, though, artificial turf is currently common in parks, homes and even commercial establishments that require landscaping. This has been made possible thanks to the development in the quality and variety of synthetic grasses. Additionally, many people and organizations have recognized the artificial turf's great contribution to water conservation efforts mainly because it needs less maintenance.

Pros and cons

In areas with a dry environment and a low amount of natural light, this synthetic grass is very ideal to use. As this is an artificial grass, it can be used in any type of ground and can be exposed to all types of weather without getting much damage.

In home gardens and lawns, this is also a perfect choice. Not all homeowners are free to maintain their grasses and for these people, installing artificial turf is the better solution. This can even be used in roof gardens and areas surrounding the swimming pool.

A few disadvantages cited with the use of artificial turf are skin injuries such as abrasions and turf toe. These conditions normally result from playing on synthetic grass. Also, this type of grass is hotter when exposed to the sun's rays for a long period.

Tired of Lawn Maintenance? Consider artificial turf - Family

Copyright (c) 2010 Nadine Davis

The care and maintenance of a natural lawn can be both time consuming and costly. From mowing the lawn to applying weed prevention treatments to using fertilizers, ensuring a lawn's beauty requires much effort. In many cases, busy individuals simply do not have the time necessary to devote to their lawn. When lawns are not properly maintained, they will become visually unappealing and may attract rodents and other types of unwanted pests. For those individuals that want a well-manicured lawn without the toil and hassle of a natural lawn, an alternative they may want to consider is artificial turf. Artificial grass offers much of the same aesthetic appeal as does a natural lawn without the disadvantages. Artificial turf is excellent for a variety of applications, and those that choose it will not be disappointed.

Benefits of Artificial Turf / Grass:

Those individuals that choose Artificial Grass will enjoy many diverse benefits. Some of the benefits and advantages of artificial turf as opposed to a natural lawn include:

=> Provides more leisure time: for those property owners tired of mowing their grass on the weekend, artificial grass will provide them with a reprieve. Not needing to spend all that time on natural lawn maintenance allows homeowners to have far more time to spend on their leisure endeavours.

=> Appropriate for many situations: artificial turf is ideal for inner city backyards, around pools, on terraces, and areas that are heavily shaded. It is difficult to get natural grass to grow in most of these situations; therefore, choosing artificial grass will be an excellent choice to provide the property with yearlong greenery.

=> Affordable and durable: artificial turf is an affordable alternative to a natural lawn. Not only is Artificial Turf affordable, but it is also quite durable. The anticipated lifetime of synthetic grass is about twenty years. This is irrelevant of weather conditions.

=> Adds value: Artificial grass can provide value to a property. This may be especially true for those properties that are not conducive to growing a natural lawn. Others may be attracted to the property because of the low maintenance and beauty the artificial grass offers.

Artificial Turf - Can It Substitute Grass? - Business - Small Business

Artificial turf has long been used for sports fields (football, rugby, golf, field hockey) and lawns. Plastic turf is great for the places in your yard where you cannot grow grass. These may include paths, terraces, and areas around the pool, which are often laid with concrete or gravel. Artificial turf is much more attractive and lightweight than concrete or gravel. Just like concrete, it can be washed or swiped; in contrast to concrete, it is softer and looks much more natural.

Artificial turf varies by its "sward" length - the tallest is the "grass" for rugby fields, and the lowest is the "grass" for lawns. The turf's fiber can be monofilament, fibrillated, and combined. Monofilament turf has individual fibers of varying height and width, joined together in bundles. This type of turf is long-lasting and similar in appearance to natural lawns. Fibrillated turf has larger fibers formed in a grid. Combined turfs are a mix of monofilament and fibrillated fibers.

By materials, artificial turf is divided into 3 main groups: polypropylene, polyamide, and polyethylene. Polypropylene is used for sports fields and lawns. Polyamide is used for lawns and gardens; this synthetic turf needs to be irrigated with water. Polyethylene is the most popular new type of material, which is used for sports fields and gardens. It is very strong and durable.

Artificial turf has a number of specific advantages in comparison to grass lawns. Firstly, it provides for unlimited hours of use in sports fields. Artificial turf can withstand most weather extremes, so it can be used year-round. Natural lawns cannot be used for more than 200 hours a year, as well as they cannot be used at low temperatures and after a snowfall. Secondly, artificial turf costs less and is easier to lay and maintain than natural lawns. It does not need mowing, fertilizers, or frequent replacement. Lastly, synthetic turf lasts longer than natural. The estimated lifetime of artificial lawns is 5 to 10 years, depending on the structure and composition.

Modern artificial turf is sold in 1-2 meter wide rolls; its cost is similar to regular carpets. Some types of synthetic turf have a very natural look, while others look quite dissimilar to authentic grass. Therefore, before you purchase, you may want to obtain a few samples and compare them to each other.

Once you have chosen and bought the turf, you need to prepare the site for its installation. The surface area must be flat, firm and dry. Some guides advise to roll the turf out, while others state that it's best to glue it. A synthetic surface is easily cut with scissors. Artificial turf will never look like grass, and it's not a substitute for grass. Many gardeners like to think of it as a substitute for concrete or gravel.

Artificial turf is not only economical and feasible but also environment friendly. It takes great devotion to maintain a good-looking lawn of natural grass. However, this devotion requires regular mowing of the lawn which for most isn't the best part of having a we ll-maintained lawn. Moreover, the commonly used gas-powered lawn mowers pollute the environment at the same time you are mowing the lawn.
