Conserve Water with Artificial Grass - Business

While nothing compares to the beauty and fresh aroma of a natural grass lawn, its negative impact on the environment, namely wasteful water consumption, is making many people reconsider traditional grass lawns in favor of eco-friendly alternatives such as artificial grass turf.

The Synthetic Council announced last month that synthetic turf installed in North America conserves more than three billion gallons of water. Synthetic turf can be used by people, businesses, schools and homeowners for residential and commercial landscaping needs as well as for athletic and playground surfaces. Synthetic turf has made a very positive impact on the environment, said Rick Doyle, President of the Synthetic Turf Council. The synthetic industry continues to innovate to enhance synthetic turfs numerous eco-friendly benefits that empower users to reduce their carbon footprint.

Schools and athletic institutions have been using artificial turf lawn for years. In fact, the Synthetic Council reports that more than 6,000 synthetic turf fields are currently being used in the United States, with each full-sized field saving between 500,000 to 1,000,000 gallons plus of water each year.

Helping the environment comes with more than a few rewards. Artificial grass prices are very affordable and save time and money in the long run by eliminating the need for watering and maintenance costs. In addition, homeowners, schools, parks and others using synthetic turf can qualify for Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) credits for Water Efficient Landscaping.

Water is a vital resource that we cant afford to waste. As more people search for economical ways to save water in their homes, designing a water-wise landscape can reduce our footprint on the planet. Do your part by installing a fake lawn and consider other low-water landscape ideas such as using native plants and/or drought-resistant plants.
