A lot of people are thinking about artificial grass right now.The popularity has gone to such an extent that there are not just local manufacturers of such turfs but they are being shipped internationally as well, and because of that, there is a lot of variety from people to choose from. Some of the common materials that are used in making such artificial grass turfs include plastics like polyethylene and polypropylene and synthetic fibers like nylonpeople indeed have several options to choose from.

When artificial grass turfs were introduced, they were almost instantly lapped up by sports grounds. But, in those days, the materials used werent the best, and people stopped using these kinds of turfs.Today, these are made with superlative technology, so much so that they are the popular choice not just in athletic, golf, tennis and soccer grounds, but you will also find them in commercial establishments and homes.

But, what is it that has made artificial grass so popular in recent times? And what is it that keeps them from being used by everyone?Lets talk about its various advantages and disadvantages now.

Advantages of Artificial Grass

i. The one benefit that most people are talking about is that artificial grass is good for the environment. If you use synthetic grass, you certainly dont have to use any water for it.In addition, since this grass is artificial, it does not draw any minerals or nutrients from the soil.Soil fertility remains intact.

ii. The second big advantage is that this is almost zero maintenance grass.Firstly, you save time on watering and adding fertilizers to the turf.Mowing is something you wouldnt need to do either.

iii. Artificial grass is considered to be quite harmless.Real grass can breed harmful insects, rodents and snakes.Real grass may also contain sharp objects within them, such as stone and shards of glass, which may be dangerous to people walking on them.

iv. The installation is easier as well. You dont have to create a foundation or anything for them. Most of these are pre-prepared turfs which you just need to lay on the floor like you do with a carpet. This is almost a DIY job, but with real grass installation, you will need to hire a gardener to set it up.

Shortcomings of Artificial Grass

Frankly speaking, artificial grassat least the quality thats available right nowis without any serious shortcomings; maybe, the only thing you would want to hold against it is that it is not live grass. If you are used to walking barefoot on live grass, then you will obviously notice the difference. You may also find that the texture, smell and color of this grass are different. But, choose good quality if you want an artificial turfthere are some good companies out there that have almost perfected the art and their grass is not much different from the real one.

So, if you are thinking about artificial grass for your residence or commercial establishment, you are not thinking of a bad idea! You may even get a tax rebate for being so friendly to the environment!
