Artificial Turf: Reasons and Tips for Installation - Business

People use artificial turf for different reasons. One common motive can be making the area usable for sporting activities during the rainy season. Some get synthetic turfs installed for reducing the time for maintenance of the backyard or playing area of their abode. Conservation of water is another prevailing reason (no irrigation is required for artificial grasses). Health conscious people also advocate its use as it doesn??t require application of any harmful chemical like pesticides. Installation of artificial turf requires professional help; however, if you want to do it yourself, the following tips will surely come in handy.

First, perform a thorough research to pick the best product. You must go for high quality products if you want to get a perfect installation. Budget is an important factor affecting the selection of artificial turf brands. Material used for the production of artificial grass, the grass count pet square metre, warranty on the product are a few things that vary according to your budget. You can buy artificial grasses both from the online stores and your nearby home furnishing store, whichever suits you the best.

Once the selection procedure is complete, you must measure the area where you will be installing artificial grass. The best thing would be covering the entire area with a single piece. If you are going to cover an irregular area, make sure that you are buying enough material. This will ensure that no patching will be required for covering up small uncovered spaces.

After you have selected and purchased the materials required for installation of synthetic turf, remove the naturally grown grass of that area. The next step involves actions required to level the region you will be installing artificial turf on. The levelling of the area can be done using pebbles, crushed stone etc; compress them for getting a stronger finish. Once you have put the levelling materials, roll over the area.

Before connecting the anchors, you must be absolutely sure about the exact placement of the synthetic turf. If the artificial grass set doesn??t come with anchors, you can use landscaping nails measuring 6 to 8 inches; they should be spread evenly, about 2 feet apart.

If you want to hide the edges of the synthetic turf, you can place materials there. The commonly used objects are: bricks, rounded stones etc.

The last thing you??ll need to do is adding a coating of sand. Spread the sand evenly over the areas where you have installed the artificial turf. A garden brush can be used for the process. Now, put water to the freshly made lawn. Continue watering until the sand gets sunk and positions the new lawn perfectly.

When all these steps are completed flawlessly, your artificial turf will be ready; however for using it you will need to wait until it is dry. Use it for playing the sports you love or for spending some relaxing time. Remember in spite of being artificial, these turfs require proper maintenance. Clean it once in every two weeks using water. The maintenance procedure of synthetic lawns is definitely not as elaborate as that of the natural ones.

Artificial Turf Lawn In The Winter - Home - Landscaping

As winter has arrived, and an increase in rain or snow has thus accompanied it, synthetic grass has been a hassle-free and money saving lawn alternative for many households that have it installed. In the winter, temperatures drop and environmental conditions fluctuate, creating survival challenges for that of natural grass. The use of synthetic grass in the cold seasons such as winter can save an impressive amount of money due to its countless benefits. Unlike natural grass, synthetic turf can survive on its own and maintain a healthy aesthetic no matter what season it is, regardless of extreme weather conditions and environmental changes. This is by far one of the best aspects of artificial grass in the winter.

Minimal maintenance has been something that can be enjoyed all year long, however, in the winter season, when gardening and mowing seem less appealing than apple cider and chimney fires, it can be especially appreciated. With the increase in precipitation, frost, and even snow, lawnmowers can get ruined. So how do you maintain a lawn and tame it from becoming a jungle in the winter months? Look to an artificial turf lawn that does not grow or become unruly. The appearance of a synthetic grass lawn is very realistic, with different pile heights and textures to choose from. Without needing watering, mowing, weeding, fertilizing, or other meticulous lawn care required by a real lawn, synthetic grass saves you time, allowing you to focus on other winter activities and the holiday season. With a cut on maintenance, there is also the obvious cut on maintenance costs, which can be exceptionally helpful during the winter and holiday season. Money that adds up for water and electri city can now be put towards stuffing those extra stockings, or paying for that costly holiday ham.

With the winter season in full effect, regular grass lawns undergo browning, becoming brittle with the cold. This eventually leads to the dying out of different parts of a regular grass lawn, causing it to look patchy, dead, and barren in the winter months. Synthetic turf lawns, on the other hand, do not turn brown, nor do they become brittle. Instead they maintain their soft touch, even when coming into contact with rain or snow. With such contact, synthetic grass' drainage system manually drains liquids in all directions. This saves a lot of money during the cold season. With the artificial grass backing highly permeated, snow melts down, and rain can easily drain through without any hassle. Thus, your turf does not collect water or stay soggy in the winter season. Artificial turf also has an advantage over real grass because of its patented infill layer. This layer helps to slow the freezing process, which helps in extreme cold conditions. Also, the infill granules can be of help in windier winter conditions, helping to keep the synthetic turf surface solid, eliminating any concern that it could lift in any areas with the wind. Synthetic grass' low maintenance and impressive drainage system make it the ideal money saving lawn option for the winter time.

Artificial Turf: How It Is Made? - Home - Landscaping

The performance of artificial turf depends a lot on the quality of raw materials used in it. Almost every material that is used as carpet backing has been used as a backing material of synthetic turfs. These include: jute, plastic, polyester etc. However, a quality artificial grass set always uses polyester tire cords for backing.

Let us now come to the material used for making up the blades of synthetic grass; the most common ones are polypropylene and nylon. However, the manufacturing procedure may differ. The nylon grass blades can be created as slender sheets that get cut into strips or passed through moulds for producing fibres having over or round cross sections. The extruded creations are blades having almost similar feel and look of biological grasses.

The cushioning system of an artificial turf is made using polyester foam or rubber compounds. Sometimes the rubber tires are recycled and used while crafting the rubber base of synthetic grasses.

Now, as we have obtained some idea about the raw materials used for making synthetic turfs; let us get into their manufacturing procedure. The grass parts of these turfs are crafted using the similar tufting techniques as that of carpets. Here are the steps:

First, all the ingredients are put and blended in a hopper. For giving the artificial turf the conventional green colour, suitable dyes are added to the mixture. The mixture also carries some chemicals that can protect the grass from the effects of ultraviolet rays. When all these components are blended thoroughly, the mixture is transferred into a huge steel mixer. The batch gets mixed until achieving the desired thick consistency.

Next, the tick mixture is emptied into an extruder. The extruding will give birth to thin and long strands, which get placed on the carding machine for being spun into loose ropes. The loose ropes are tugged, straightened and finally get woven into yarns. Then, they are laid on a bar with skewers behind the tufting machine and transferred through the tube heading towards tufting needle. The tufting needle penetrates the turfs primary backing and drives the yarns inside the loop. A flat hook clutches and releases the nylon loop whilst the tufting needle tugs back. The backing gets shifted in forward direction and again gets pierced by the needle. The process takes place involving hundreds of needles and every minute witnesses stitching of hundreds of rows. Finally, the nylon yarn gets converted into an artificial turf.

Now, the artificial turf is rolled by a dispenser, which spreads a latex coating onto its base. Simultaneously, a sturdy secondary backing is also developed using latex. Both these are then sealed together. For healing the newly applied latex, the artificial turf is placed under the heat lamps. Then, it is passed through a machine that examines whether there is any uneven surface on the turf. Once, the manufacturing unit is sure that there is no flaw in their creation, the artificial turfs are rolled and packaged for being shipped to the wholesalers.

Synthetic Grass Helps to Reduce Water Pollution - Business

Many homeowners, businesses and schools use synthetic grass for landscape and play because it is durable, safe and affordable. It can be used to landscape everything from playgrounds to athletic fields and home lawns. However, more people are choosing synthetic grass over natural grass because of its numerous eco-friendly benefits; synthetic grass conserves water, keeps tires out of landfills, lowers consumption of energy, reduces grass clippings and prevents smog and noxious emissions.

As if we needed another reason to switch to fake lawn grass, the Synthetic Turf Council highlighted one more environmental benefit of using synthetic grass by announcing last month that artificial grass installed in North America eliminates about a billion pounds of harmful pesticides and fertilizers.

Synthetic grass is made of polyethylene, a durable plastic, which means it does not need to be watered, maintained or sprayed with harmful chemicals like natural grass does. What is so harmful about pesticides and fertilizers? Our planet's lakes, rivers, streams and groundwater are often polluted with these chemicals. In fact, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), runoff of pesticides and fertilizers has been identified as the main cause of water pollution.

Installing synthetic grass for landscape or play will help make a positive impact on the environment and further reduce your carbon footprint. Unlike natural grass, fake grass eliminates the need for nearly a billion pounds of pesticides, fertilizers, fungicides and herbicides which are traditionally used to maintain grass.

Thousands of homeowners, businesses and guardians of public spaces have purchased artificial turf as a beautiful landscape solution that requires little or no maintenance while helping the environment.

Now, you can too. Wholesale artificial grass is available for purchase through retailers such as Artificial Turf Supply. The online retailer offers a large selection of quality synthetic turf products for residential, commercial and industrial use. Artificial Turf Supply also provides synthetic turf for athletic surfaces and playgrounds.

Artificial Turf ? 4 Things You Need to Know about It - Health

Synthetic lawns are a popular upgrade for homeowners around the country. But fake grass isn't something that you just see in backyards; it's popping up all over the place!

So, what do you need to know before you buy artificial turf?

These 4 things:

1.It can go anywhere

Whether you need something for your backyard, your local city park, or your sports stadium, synthetic lawns can go anywhere. Unlike the real stuff, fake grass can hold its own against scorching hot temperatures, frigid cold fronts, and even rain and snow. No matter what Mother Nature throws at it, synthetic turf is still going to look green and lush.

2.It looks and feels like real grass

Today's synthetic lawns are designed to look and feel no differently than the real thing. In fact, you've probably driven by a yard full of fake grass and never even realized it! That's because artificial turf manufacturers have been hard at work, coming up with colors that look natural and textures that feel good even on bare feet. Today's artificial turf is even designed to stand up straight - just like blades of real grass!

And, thanks to infill, you can get an even more realistic feel - that will make you think you're walking on actual soil!

3.It requires zero maintenance

If you've ever been in charge of maintaining real grass - whether it was in your backyard or in someplace much bigger - you know how much work it can be. It seems like as soon as you're done mowing, watering, and laying down fertilizer, it's time to start all over again!

Luckily, artificial turf doesn't need any of that. Once your fake grass is installed, you never have to worry about it again. It doesn't grow, get scorched by the sun, or die in patches.

4.It can save you money

Aside from all of the time you will save by not having to maintain it, artificial turf will save you money, too. You will wind up with dramatically lower water bills, and you won't have to worry about buy new lawn equipment - or maintaining the tools you've got.

Unlike real grass, synthetic lawns are a one-time investment. Once you have purchased your fake lawn, had it delivered, and had it installed, you never have to worry about it again. And, if you're good with tools, you might even be able to install it yourself - which can save you even more money. In fact, a good synthetic turf manufacturer will even give you tips on how to install it yourself.

Choose Clean And Safe With Artificial And Synthetic Grass - Home - Gardening

Artificial and Synthetic grass was first created so that sports that required it could hold events year round. The problem was that due to industrialization, inner city youths were at a disadvantage because they didn't have the same opportunity for sports or other forms of exercise as their rural counterparts. The first synthetic grass was created by the Chemstrand Company out of a fiber formerly used only as a carpet fiber. They used a nylon that was put into the carpeting in schools. The first synthetic turf was Astroturf. It was first installed in 1964 at a Rhode Island school named Moses Brown and was called ChemGrass. There have been enormous developments in the last half decade that has made artificial turf softer, more natural, and more versatile.

As time went on, the concerns of the world changed. Humankind became more interested in the environment and wanted to make sure that any turf they used was kind to the planet as well as being utilitarian. Rather than using the nylon fibers, artificial and synthetic grass is often made of polyethylene fibers which are just as durable as the nylon fibers, but much softer to the touch as well as much more natural in appearance.

The polyethylene is far more biodegradable than the original nylon Astroturf. In addition, there is a new form of turf that is 60% green and biodegradable made from a patented product named BioCelTM, produced by a company named Universal Textile Technologies. Several years ago, some forms of artificial turf was linked to illness in athletes from years spent playing on the fields. However, new regulations in the consumer market have set guidelines that require all synthetic turf be fully safe to humans, animals, and the environment. They are now fully lead free and tested for heavy metal content.

Artificial and Synthetic grass used to be used only for athletic fields. They were used almost exclusively for football and baseball, as soccer, tennis, and other sports were still played entirely on natural grass. Now the industry also offers its products to the average citizen, allowing anyone to possess a lawn that is green the whole year round, environmentally friendly, low-maintenance, and safe for children and pets. It provides a lawn that is always beautiful and requires no maintenance. It saves the time and money spent on lawnmowers and on watering. Animals can't dig through it and it doesn't house the numerous insects that natural grass does. It is a beautiful, life-long alternative to the hassle of maintaining a natural grass lawn. There is no more weeding and no more fertilizing, just a beautiful, natural looking lawn to enjoy.

Artificial and synthetic grasses have become significantly more attractive as well as more useful as they have gotten older. Advancements have made them safer. The new turf is more convenient than trying to maintain huge playing fields of natural grass, making it a cheap solution to fields of any size and for any purpose.

Simple Upkeep Of Synthetic Grass - Home - Landscaping

Effortless and timesaving upkeep of synthetic grass proves to be one of the main benefits that many homeowners, businesses, landscapers, and athletes have come to enjoy. Such an investment has a relatively quick return on investment, thus making it cost effective in the long run. Manual labor is cut down significantly, including watering, mowing, and weeding. With labor cut, bills are also reduced, saving a large amount of money over the course of a few years. In a time when many are busy at work and finances are rough due to the economy, synthetic grass is the ultimate solution to conservation.

For many states that undergo crucial droughts and strict requirements for lawn watering, synthetic turf is significantly helpful. Approximately one hour of watering an average household lawn constitutes a total of 220 gallons of water, which can equate to over 30,000 gallons of water a year. A significant part of what contributes to household water bills is simple lawn watering. Synthetic grass does not require a single drop of water, thus enabling households to save on bills and conserve resources. Artificial grass lawns have allowed households to completely get rid of its dependence on water in order to have a healthy looking yard.

Synthetic grass' drainage system is uniquely designed to automatically drain liquids that come in contact with it. A highly perforated and permeable backing allows turf to filter water through easily, from all angles, horizontally and vertically. Thus, no water collects in the surface or threatens the composition of artificial turf when coming into contact with it. This even includes pet urine, which does not harm synthetic grass whatsoever.

Maintaining the best look of synthetic grass requires making sure that large particles and debris are consistently removed from the surface of the turf. This includes leaves, twigs, and other small objects that have the ability to get stuck in between the blades of artificial turf. Simply manually removing such debris will help to keep the blades natural looking and healthy in appearance. While rain is a natural aid to helping clean off debris, a hose can be used for a few minutes to help remove debris easily. When grass blades seem to not stand up as straight, a brush with hard bristles can be used to brush the blades upright once again. Brushing from one side to the other can help to keep the blades upright.

Making sure that certain harmful liquids do not come into contact with synthetic grass is crucial to maintaining it. Liquids such as grease, oil, and acid can be detrimental to the composition of artificial grass. They can alter the tint and color if coming into contact with turf. If minor stains or dirt occur on the surface of the turf, simple household cleaners may be used to clean off stains. With no need for watering, mowing, weeding, or fertilizing, synthetic grass' upkeep is much more effortless than that of a natural grass lawn. Such minimal maintenance allows households and businesses to save precious time and money on their lawns.

Synthetic Grass For Cricket - Home - Landscaping

Much of the knowledge many people have on sports synthetic turf is the fact that it can be used for many popular professional and recreational sports, including football, soccer, tennis, golf, and even lacrosse. However, there are even more options for the use of sports turf in regards to more specialized or niche sports. This includes cricket or bowling, which have both successfully employed the use of synthetic grass as sporting surfaces. Because of durability, high quality performance, and low maintenance, these sports have benefited from the use of artificial grass surfaces.

The use of synthetic grass has replaced older mats used for cricket many years ago. Artificial grass used for cricket games can be made from two different types of grass, denoted by the actual pitch itself, as well as the outfield. Before the grass is installed, it is laid upon the concrete rubber shock pad that acts as a sturdy foundation for the pitch. The main pitch surface is usually really short bladed uniform synthetic grass. This allows the cricket ball to easily glide in different directions. The outfield's pitch is usually different in color or tint to distinguish it as a separate area from the rest of the main pitch. The outfield's pitch usually has a lighter face weight than the main pitch. New synthetic turf pitches have allowed cricket players to have a very even and sturdy performance surface to play on.

The great thing about artificial grass pitches for cricket is the fact that they are the all weather alternative. Historically, past mats used for cricket were not friendly to all seasons. The concrete slab may have been covered with coir mats during the summer, and dirt or soil in the winter. This highly affected the seasons in which cricket enthusiasts could play or even attend the games to watch. With synthetic grass pitches, blistering hot summers do not damage playing surfaces, while heavy rain and nippy winters are easily withstood as well. The all-weather synthetic grass surface is ideal for cricket enthusiasts around the world, enabling everyone to enjoy and watch games no matter what time of year it is.

Another significant benefit of artificial turf pitches for cricket is the fact that they are a safe surface for players. These pitches are flat, secure, and completely absorb shock. They are both durable and solid, allowing it to be strong to withstand impact from several missiles, even from the fastest bowlers. With the very even surface that synthetic grass creates, batsmen are able to maintain proper balance and footing for batting. Those who bowl also have added benefits of a supple but stable pitch to play on. The type of grass used for cricket pitches is made specifically with the perfect amount of bounce that remains consistent with every game. There are also synthetic grass pitch covers on the market that help to keep dirt and debris off the pitch should the field be used for other sports during the off-season. Artificial turf pitches are ideal for modern day cricket since they have quickly replaced the hassles of mats and soil.Much of the knowledge many people hav e on sports synthetic grass is the fact that it can be used for many popular professional and recreational sports, including football, soccer, tennis, golf, and even lacrosse. Looking after your lawn during the winter months - Home - Gardening

Looking after your lawn during the winter months can be a difficult thing to do, due to the cold temperatures and dry conditions that come with the season.

We have compiled a few tips on maintaining your lawn throughout winter to keep your grass healthy and fresh for spring.

Use it as little as possibleProbably the easiest way to protect your lawn during the winter months is to limit the amount of time that you use it. This is usually something that most people do anyway as it is too cold to use the garden. Walking on your lawn when it is wet or frosty will damage the grass and because the grass is not growing due to the cold, it will start to deteriorate quite quickly.

Is it safe to mow the lawn over winter?A question we are often asked, you should only mow your lawn during winter when it is really necessary. If the weather is not too cold you should be able to mow your lawn, however if the grass is wet or if you are expecting cold conditions over the next few days, it is best to wait until it gets warmer to mow your lawn again.

I get a lot of leaves in my garden and use a leaf blower to get rid of them, is this safe?It is definitely a good idea to remove leaves from your garden at any time of the year as leaves will prevent grass from growing as well as it could do. As grass is more vulnerable to damage during cold spells, it is unadvisable to use a leaf blower to remove leaves as this could cause damage to the lawn. It is better to lightly rake leaves during the winter as this will cause far less damage.

What else can I do before the spring to make sure my lawn stays healthy? As use of the garden becomes almost impossible during cold spells, it is a great time to ensure that all of the equipment that you use during the summer is in good condition, ready to enjoy your lawn when the weather gets warmer. Make sure that you lawn mower is in good condition, and if it is necessary have it serviced.

What about artificial grass?Artificial grass is normally used in sports like football and hockey for people to train on during winter periods, when the grass needs to be looked after. It has become increasingly popular for people to use artificial grass in the own gardens as it has many benefits over conventional grass.

The main benefit artificial grass has during the winter is that it is a low-maintenance option to conventional grass. It does not need to be mowed and will not become damaged in cold conditions.

It not only looks like real grass, it also allows moisture to pass through it, so that the soil stays moist and does not dry out and become hard.

Most companies now create artificial grass that is fully recyclable, making it an environmentally friendly option if you are concerned about the life of your lawn during winter.

In Arizona, Artificial Grass is a Great Way to Beat the Extreme Heat - Home - Landscaping

In the desert southwest, temperatures can soar to more than 115 degrees during the sweltering summer months of July and August. This kind of hostile environment makes it difficult to grow vegetables, plants, flowers and even grass. Thats why in Arizona, artificial grass is becoming more and more common in front and backyards, school yards and other commercial applications.

There used to be quite a stigma attached to fake grass lawns because they looked so,well, fake! But artificial grass technology and manufacturing processes have come a very long way over the last ten years or so. These days, artificial grass can look very close to the real thing. In fact, many people have to kneel down and touch really good fake grass lawns to confirm theyre not real.

Thats not to say you cant find fake grasses today that look extremely unnatural, you absolutely can. Thats because some companies still use outdated manufacturing techniques to create a cheap, inferior alternative. But as with most things in life, you will get what you pay for. These cheaper grasses are very shiny, often contain lead, are pretty smelly and look very artificial. If you want artificial grass that looks like the real thing, you need to research the most reputable company with the highest quality grasses.

A real lawn takes a fairly large amount of water to keep green and lush; especially during summer months. Nowhere is that more true than in hot, arid Arizona. Fake grass lawns are a great way to save water which, in turn, helps the environment and saves you money on your water bill. Of course, artificial grass does not have to be watered at all. In fact, the only thing you have to do for fake grass lawns is brush them off with a broom or blow them off every once in a while. Thats it! They are truly the ultimate in low-maintenance, hassle-free living. And when you live in Arizona, staying out of the summer sun is always a high priority.

More Phoenicians Embracing Artificial Grass Landscapes - Home - Gardening

Whats becoming more common to the desert landscape of many Phoenix, Arizona homes, courses, and parks are the eye-capturing designs of artificial grass. Phoenix is typically known for its dry, unsoiled land space thats filled with various dehydrated specimen such as cactus, red rock, sandy dirt, and other wild desert plants. These settings eventually become redundant and unappealing to the population, which is why the masking layer of artificial grass has evolved into a popular asset among many.

When you live in an area with extreme heat temperatures like Phoenix, its anticipated that these conditions will have a negative, aesthetic effect on the terrain- translating images of desiccation and abandonment. For homes, golf courses, parks, and the alike, this means having to constantly battle natures will. But one can only do so much. Having to repetitively go out and maintain your landscape, either by watering the lawn or shielding the sun, becomes tiresome. This is why many Phoenicians have taken to artificial grass and upgraded terrains with a year round layer of appeal that maintains its quality and beauty without all the hassle that comes with caring for real grass.

The surface of artificial grass is manufactured from synthetic fibers made to transmit the same color, feel, and look as natural grass; this is good for residents of Phoenix, AZ. Artificial grass requires no heavy maintenance, which means irrigation systems or trimmings are no longer necessary. In an intense heat destination like Phoenix, Arizona, this couldnt be any more convenient. Now lawn owners and personnel can sit back and enjoy the pleasures of keeping an attractive setting without having to lift a finger. Helping stray away from the customary, dry-landscapes that haunt residents of Phoenix, artificial grass provides lawns with a stimulating appeal that they can now enjoy; maintenance free.

Suffering from Spring Allergies? Consider Artificial Grass - Home - Gardening

Nobody enjoys the sniffling and sneezing that comes with spring allergies. If you suffer from these unpleasant symptoms, it may be time to consider installing artificial grass. Phoenix residents can benefit from replacing their existing lawns with artificial grass for a number of other reasons, too. In addition to reducing allergens and insects, Phoenix artificial grass is also easier to maintain and looks nice all year long.

Even if you are not allergic to grass, your lawn could still be causing your spring allergies. Pollen from weeds can often cause reactions like itchy, watery eyes, sneezing, and congestion. Eliminating the source of these symptoms is often the best way to eliminate the problem entirely. If you dont have grass and weeds releasing pollen and seeds into the air, you will be less likely to have an allergic reaction.

Reducing the source of these allergens will also make your outdoor life more pleasant. You can spend a summer evening on the patio without worrying about taking your allergy medication or suffering from the unpleasant symptoms. When you replace your lawn with synthetic grass, Phoenix summer days and nights become more enjoyable for everybody. In addition to reducing allergens, you also eliminate lawn maintenance such as mowing and watering. Eliminating the need to mow also significantly reduces the allergens in the air around your home.

Reducing allergens is not the only reason to install artificial grass. Phoenix also has a lot of unwanted insects that live in the soil of lawns. These insects may damage your property and home; they may also cause itchy bites or stings. Getting rid of the lawn will also get rid of these pests, so you can reduce allergies and insects in one simple step. Phoenix artificial grass is definitely worth considering if you have any of these problems. Your lawn can be replaced any time of year, but there is no time like the present, especially if your spring allergies are already becoming a problem.

Weather: The end of grass lawns - Home - Gardening

The perks of owning a regular grass lawn can be fantastic. From the little bits of wildlife it may attract to the smell of freshly cut grass and the beautiful aesthetics of the garden on a sunny summers day feels like it cant be matched by anything in beauty. It seems like there can possibly be no downside to having a real grass lawn, but unfortunately everything must have its weakness, and on regular grass its the weather.

Even though just one paragraph ago I was singing the praises of the effect of the summers sun on the garden it can often leave your garden looking completely dead. This is because of the effect that heat can have on the soil beneath the grass. Soil that gets too hot becomes dry very quickly and if thats the case there is very little chance of nutrients being carried through the root because quite simply, there isnt any. Another weather condition that may cause some trouble for your garden would be snow which can completely blanket your garden meaning no sunlight can get through, leading your grass to wither away, leaving patches of dead or dying grass in its wake.

There are ways to combat these problems, however they seem to be unrealistic due to the amount of time attention or long term money they may need. To combat the problem of heat, you would need to keep the garden hydrated at regular intervals. This would mean youd have to water the plants manually, which may seem like a burden in the fast paced world we live, especially if you have a job. Or you would have to purchase a sprinkler set which may be more trouble than their worth, especially considering they cost a lot to maintain and are prone to breaking.

One alternative I have found is to get an artificial lawn fitted in your garden. You get a similar look of an incredible garden without any of the hassle or additional cost of maintenance that a regular garden would set you back. It can also be good if you are active on your lawn a lot, as it is often similar to a playing surfaces grass type, and it also wont break as easily as regular grass.

Artificial Grass for Playgrounds and Parks - Family

Durable and safe, artificial grass is being installed in playgrounds at schools and parks across the country. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), each year an estimated 200,000 children are treated in hospital emergency rooms for playground equipment-related injuries; 60 percent of these injuries are the result of falls to the ground, underscoring that the most critical safety factor on playgrounds is protective surfacing such as artificial grass playground turf. To prevent injuries from falling, the CPSC recommends that all fall zones in playgrounds and parks should be covered with a protective surfacing material. These materials must possess the ability to absorb shock during a fall as well as wear and environmental conditions. The ProPlay Series artificial playground turf is designed with these guidelines in mind. The ProPlay Series is one of the safest and most durable artificial lawn surfaces available on the market today. Ideal for playgro unds, ProPlay is manufactured using soft and forgiving Polyethylene. This amazing material is tough enough to withstand the stress of heavy-duty-all-weather use, yet gentle enough to protect children from impact injuries.Traditional protective surfacing material recommended by the CPSC includes wood chips, fine sand, double shredded bark mulch and fine gravel. However, the 100 percent crumb rubber infill of the ProPlay Series offers a much safer surface than these loose-fill materials that a child can be hurt on. Along with offering a very safe and very durable surface for playgrounds, another great benefit to artificial grass is the cost. Artificial grass is very affordable and very easy to maintain, eliminating the need for using so much water, weeding, mowing almost every week and other possible maintenance costs. To learn more about the great benefits of playground-friendly ProPlay Series and to purchase artificial grass wholesale, visit ArtificialTurfSupply.com.

Why choose artificial grass? - Home

Back in the early '60s, an American named David Chaney made his name, and possibly millions too, as the man "responsible for indoor major league baseball and millions of welcome mats", when he correctly predicted that there would be a market for his artificial grass. As it happens, his market predictions were vastly underestimated. Not long after, the newly built Astrodome in Houston Texas was the first sports field to be surfaced with artificial grass.Today though, artificial grass is everywhere - even where you might not expect it. Thanks to the benefits that come from it being so low maintenance, artificial grass has become the perfect solution for gardeners and architects who need to grass an area which, for whatever reason, can't support actual living grass. Whether that means it's indoors, underneath a roof that prevents sunlight from getting through, or in hot climates, homeowners and businesses realise the many varied uses for artificial grass.Whereas natural grass requires chemicals and fertilizers in order to keep it looking in good shape all year round, artificial grass of doesn't, so there is no danger to children or pets who might have accidentally came into contact with the substances doing so. There are no chemicals being washed into the water-table either; making it considerably better for the environment in many cases. Of course, for property management companies, maintaining gardens and outdoor space can be both a major expense and time consuming, but artificial grass can help reduce both of these easily and quickly.Sports fields were of course, one of the first beneficiaries of artificial grass and that trend continues to this day. Nowadays, however artificial grass can be used on not just "traditional" sports fields but also plenty of others from putting greens and golf mats to custom made logos for sports teams which take pride of place at their home. However, perhaps the most compelling reason for choosing artificial gras s over real grass is how it looks. Today there are literally dozens of different types of artificial grass available, each designed and created to emulate famous grass types. So wherever you are in the world, you can choose the type of grass you want for your garden, have it laid down, and then all but forget about it in terms of maintenance. In many hot countries, water can be of a premium, so there's no need to waste any in watering artificial lawns, and likewise a lot of time and effort can be saved in laying artificial grass as opposed to growing real grass.

Stoke City FC and PSD select McArdle-Sport-Tec for new all weather pitch installation - Sports - Other Sports

McArdle Sport-Tec were selected by consultants Professional Sportsturf Design Ltd (PSD) and Premiership club Stoke City FC to install their new synthetic turf pitch as part of Stoke City's new Clayton Wood Training Ground development. The 111m x 74m all weather pitch installation took 15 weeks to complete and was ready for players to use in November 2010.

Nick Robinson, Training Ground Facilities Manager said "Now that we have been using our new 3G synthetic pitch for a few weeks now I thought I'd just let you know how happy we are with the installation. The pitch is used on a regular basis and the players and staff think it's great. Can I say that it was a pleasure dealing with McArdles during the project and would like to thank your staff, especially Shaun Gill and Dave Darnell for ensuring that the project from start to finish was completed with the minimum of disruption, on time and on budget. There were no major issues during the project and any minor issues were dealt with promptly and effectively by Shaun and his team on site. I look forward to working with your team on any future projects."

McArdle Sport-Tec installed the Desso iDNA 40 synthetic surface, Alex Stead, Desso commented "We were delighted that Stoke City selected our iDNA 40 product for their facility. The system offers playing conditions to the highest performance level - making Clayton Wood an ideal location for our first installation. Artificial Grass Prices - What Do They Include? - Business

You've probably seen that artificial grass prices are higher than what you would pay for grass seed or sod. So, why bother buying synthetic grass?

You have to remember that artificial grass prices come with all sorts of "extras" that real grass prices don't, like:

1. A yard that doesn't need to be mowed

Unlike the real stuff, synthetic turf never grows, so you will never have to worry about mowing it. When you have a yard that doesn't have to be mowed, you don't have to worry about buying and maintaining a lawn mower - or paying someone to come cut your grass for you every few weeks. Your synthetic turf may cost a little more than sod or seed, but it will also save you tons of money down the road!

2. A yard that doesn't need to be watered

How much do you pay to water your grass every month? Add up all of your water bills, and you'll see just how expensive keeping that real grass green is! Luckily, though, synthetic grass doesn't need water to look good. Unlike real grass that starts to look more like hay when it's thirsty, fake turf grass can sit through the worst drought on record and still look green and plush.

3. A yard that's never going to die

No matter what Mother Nature throws at your fake turf grass, it is never going to die. Once you pay the initial artificial grass prices, you never have to buy it again. Compare that to sod and seed - which aren't too much cheaper, and you'll need to buy them over and over. If you have to buy new sod and seed every few years, you've spent way more than you'd be paying one time in artificial grass prices.

4. A yard that cushions every step you take

Fake turf grass has come a long way over the years. Instead of being that hard, rug-like stuff you in sports stadiums decades ago, it's now much softer. And, if you add infill into the mix, you'll wind up with synthetic turf that literally cushions every step that you and your family take on it!

5. A yard that may be installed for you

In some cases, artificial grass prices will include the cost of a professional to deliver and install it. You will have to talk to your specific synthetic turf manufacturer to see if this is the case for you. Even if it's not, paying someone to get your synthetic grass to your home and to lay it down for you is well worth the price!

Artificial Grass Retailers And Installers - Home - Landscaping

With the international growth of the synthetic grass industry to different parts of the world in the present day, there are many different retailers and suppliers of artificial grass. With the convenience of the internet, it is possible to quickly and easily locate local or regional retailers and installers. Large or wholesale artificial grass retailers usually have a database of installers based upon regions and cities. It is simple to gain more information on these retailers and installers by looking up keywords such as "synthetic grass", "artificial grass", "synthetic turf", and "artificial turf", followed by the city you reside in. Search engines that include maps and distance are a great tool to locate local companies within your area. Many companies serve more than one city and can thus accommodate even the smaller less populated areas.

Most suppliers and installers of artificial grass have their own websites with basic information, including location, products, and contact information. It is also very common for suppliers to include a quote page, or free estimate page. With these, you are able to fill out your information, including specifications for what type of artificial grass you are interested in. Fields such as type of turf, function, square footage, shipping options, and whether or not installation is needed are all a part of the free estimate form. Most artificial grass companies are able to give accurate quotes in a timely and effective manner after the quote form is filled out online. These forms are ideal for shopping around because you are able to compare estimates among different retailers and installers within our area based upon your own specifications.

As far as pricing is concerned, wholesale artificial grass retailers usually average about two to six dollars a square foot based upon what turf product is being used. Wholesalers can be of great value for moderately sized jobs and almost always have a large selection of products to choose from in stock and ready to ship out with quick shipment and delivery. Pricing depends heavily on the function or use of the turf, whether it be residential or commercial. Also, different products range from sports turf, pet turf, landscape turf, fields, recreational turf, golf greens, and more. All of these products are engineered with a different feel based upon usage. There are also extra features that different types of artificial grass have, including UV protection, different fiber qualities, and pile heights. All of these are important factors in the pricing of different artificial grass products.

When shopping for artificial grass, it is most ideal to get as much information as possible to see how many options are available to you. The options are countless, as the industry has grown and become a more saturated market, full of suppliers and installers in nearly every region. Requesting information pamphlets and getting free estimates is highly beneficial in the planning process of getting artificial grass installed. Being resourceful is the optimal way to ensure that you get the best quality turf and a seamless installation to fit your specifications as well as your budget.
